The Ravens selected Ben Grubbs with the 29th overall pick in 2007 NFL Draft.

If they can’t re-sign Grubbs as an unrestricted free agent in the next couple months, they may again grab a guard with their 29th pick in April.

There’s potentially going to be two top guards at that spot in Georgia’s Cordy Glenn and Stanford’s David DeCastro.

DeCastro is widely considered the top interior lineman in the draft, and may be gone earlier, but there are always surprises. Glenn is more likely to be in Baltimore’s range.

Glenn shined at the NFL Scouting Combine, and followed up on that at his pro day on Georgia’s campus Monday.

First of all, he’s massive. Glenn measured in at 6-foot-5 1/2, 345 pounds with long, 36-inch arms. That size enables him to simply maul defenders at the line.

“I’m naturally a big, girthy wide guy,” Glenn said at the combine.

Glenn also has line versatility that will be appealing to many teams, including Baltimore. He played guard for much of his college career, then shifted to tackle as a senior. Analysts have said he didn’t perform as well there, but Glenn proved he has the tools to continue to grow at tackle.

He posted a 5.15 40-yard dash with a 1.76 10-yard split, showing his athletic explosion. Glenn looked very fluid in position drills considering his size.

Glenn, who told reporters he had not met with the Ravens, said he doesn’t care whether he plays guard or tackle. He feels best at tackle as of now, just because it’s where he played most recently. Glenn said teams weren’t telling him he projected at one particular position.

“I’m just hoping to get drafted,” he said. “I’d say my best attribute would probably be my power. I think I’m pretty good at everything. I might work on pad level or hand placement. There are a lot of little things I can work on and get better at.”

DeCastro also had a strong showing at the combine, which simply solidified his stock as a first-round offensive lineman. He said he interviewed with the Ravens, along with most every other team, in Indianapolis.

The 6-foot-5, 305-pounder displayed his elite movement and powerful hands. He only allowed one sack during his three seasons, and remembered it clearly. It was to UCLA’s Brian Price, DeCastro said before detailing the entire play.

“Yeah, good memories,” he joked, giving a glimmer that it still bothers him.

DeCastro said his greatest attribute, like Glenn’s, is power. Stanford did a good amount of power running.

“That’s what you want. Get up on teams and just run the ball. I love running the ball, trying to move people,” DeCastro said.

“I think that’s something that’s been driven into my head and my style of play. That’s who I want to be and who I’m going to try to be.”
